A new attraction called The Flyer is set to be launched this summer as part of the offering at Pier 39 in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. Featuring technology from Triotech, it is described as the world’s first flying theatre in 3D.

Audiences of all ages are promised an unforgettable ride, soaring over the biggest attractions and most iconic landmarks throughout the Californian city and the surrounding Bay Area.
Following a pre-show experience and photo opportunity, riders – up to 28 per cycle – will take their seats on the motion base at the heart of the attraction.

Soon they will feel the seats move and the floor slip away as they are suspended in front of a 1,100 square feet (50ft by 22ft/15.2m x 6.7m) curved screen to enjoy a six-minute-long 3D flight. Passengers will fly over local landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Coit Tower, Marin Headlands, Chinatown and more.

Immediately following the experience, guests will have the opportunity to purchase their souvenir photo and other exclusive merchandise in the gift shop.

To produce the ride film, which features a mix of HD film footage captured by drone and helicopter together with CGI content, Triotech and The Flyer operator WA Alter Inc collaborated with the award-winning mix media development house Fly Studio. The state-of-the-art screen was manufactured by Spitz, while Christie is supplying projection.

“We have spent nearly two years researching and developing multi-sensorial effects in tandem with 3D high definition cutting-edge technology,” reveals John Alter of WA Alter Inc. “The overall movie-like originality of The Flyer – San Francisco will create an unforgettable guest experience that will have audiences, quite literally, on the edge of their seats.”

Tickets for The Flyer – San Francisco will be available soon, priced at $25 + tax for adults or $15 + tax for children. Group tickets will also be on sale.
