Youseum, the immersive social media museum located in Amsterdam and Leidschendam, is to open new venues in Europe.

The museum has raised around 3m euros in capital growth as a means of expanding across Europe, beginning with new visitor destinations in Germany and Sweden.

Joep Heusschen, COO and co-founder of Yousem, spoke on the company’s expansion objectives: “We aim to build playgrounds of boundless creativity that invite our visitors to play with social media. Meanwhile, we try to spark a discussion about the role of social media in our day-to-day lives.

“Social media is about more than just a selfie. At Youseum, we highlight the good and the bad sides of social media,” Heusschen continued.

The museum started as a pop-up venue in Amsterdam in November 2019. The attraction proved popular, in spite of the pandemic, attracting over 75,000 visitors in it first 12 months in operation.

In June 2021, a second Youseum was launched at Westfield Mall in the Netherlands. The venue boasts the country’s first TikTok experience, as well as 18 unique spaces and 25 installations, including optical illusions, a ball pit, and swings, designed for social media photos.
