Oasis Springs waterpark in Victoria, Australia is set to double in size with the start of the second stage of the theme park’s extension.

The expansion of the popular waterpark is part of a $50 million, three-year redevelopment of Gumbuya World, which aims to become the ‘Disneyland of Victoria.’

The Oasis Springs development will include 50 new attractions, as well as a chocolate factory, shops, cafes and a microbrewery. A series of precincts including dinosaur, woolshed and indigenous areas are being built to act as educational programmes at the park.

The extended waterpark will feature the most impressive wave pool in Victoria, alongside six new waterslides, including four lane rally slides and two monster twister slides.

Oasis Springs is one of four distinct areas at Gumbuya World – the Wildlife Trail, Outback Explorers and Oz Adventure.

Ron Weinsierl, business director at Gumbuya World spoke of the theme park’s ongoing success.

“We’ve had our busiest summer thanks to the thousands of Victorians and tourists walking through our doors each day over the last two months.

“We received such strong support from the community and our customers since Gumbuya World re-opened in December 2017, and we want to say thank you to everyone who has visited over the last year.

“We’re looking forward to introducing an even bigger Oasis Springs in time for the spring school holidays this year,” said Weinsierl.

The ambitious redevelopment of the theme park is expected to give tourism and employment in Victoria a boost. Once the work if completed by 2022, the park is forecast to  attract one million visitors a year.
