Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) has unveiled plans for the launch of Aquarabia, Saudi Arabia’s first water theme park and the largest in the region, located in Qiddiya City.
Aquarabia will form part of Six Flags Qiddiya City, the first Six Flags outside of North America. And its vast water park will hold four world records, including the tallest water coaster, the tallest drop body slide, the tallest water slide, and the longest mat racer.
Aquarabia will also feature the first underwater adventure ride featuring fully submersible cars. Other aquatic activities on the menu include rafting, kayaking, canyoneering, free solo climbing and cliff jumping, as well as the Kingdom’s first surf pool. All in all, there will be twenty-two rides and experiences. The water park will be Saudi’s first home-grown water theme park immersivity themed to ancient desert wellsprings.
“This announcement marks a significant milestone for Qiddiya City and for the entertainment, tourism and sports sector,” said Qiddiya Investment Company Managing Director Abdullah Aldawood at the unveiling.
“As we keep expanding our entertainment offering, Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City will fulfil the diverse entertainment needs of our community, contribute to the diversification of our economy and create job opportunities in the tourism sector, concluded Aldawood.”
Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City has targeted 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s mission to elevate tourism in the Kingdom and contribute to the Kingdom’s economic diversification and GDP targets.
The project will also have water use and waste management as a firm focus with Six Flags Qiddiya using recycled water for the park’s irrigation and cooling, thus reducing water waste by up to 90% and decrease energy consumption.
