A thrilling ride awaits riders at Thredbo onboard the continent’s first Alpine Coaster 2.0. Located in New South Wales, the alpine-themed coaster has been manufactured by Josef Wiegand.
Alpine Coaster has 40 sleds where riders can plunge down the mountain at top speeds of 25mph with a maximum acceleration of 12mph per second.
From top to bottom covers 427ft with an uphill track length of 1345ft and a downhill track length of 0.87miles. Its total track length covers nearly a mile.
Riders onboard will traverse through track tunnels, bridges and circles that take in the beautiful alpine scenery.
The Alpine Coaster had been in construction since October 2023 before finishing the project and independent health and safety checks back in May.
Thredbo General Manager Stuart Diver discussed its new alpine attraction: “The Alpine Coaster is a world-class attraction for the Snowy Mountains and will greatly support year-round local tourism.
“It provides a fun new on-snow experience in winter, will build upon our wide range of outdoor adventures in summer and will be a drawcard in the shoulder seasons.”
