A Moon-themed luxury resort has been unveiled for Dubai, UAE.
The 10-acre (435,600 sq ft) development is set to provide a “lunar colony” for tourists and is estimated to cost US$5bn (€5.1bn, £4.4bn).
The plans include a giant replica of the Moon with a total height of 735ft (224m), and will feature attractions including “low gravity moonwalks”, a range of hotel rooms, and other accommodation options – including 300 “sky villas”.
There are also plans for a wellness spa and entertainment venues.
A Canadian architectural company, Moon World Resorts Inc (MWR), has created the concept and designs for the resort. MWR intends to host a global roadshow during 2023 to showcase the concept to investors and potential partners in a number of regions.
According to MWR, despite the scale of the structure, the Moon resort will have a focus on sustainability and be designed to achieve the requirements of a gold LEED certification.
