Atlantic City’s Steel Pier unveil two future attractions

Listen to this article

Atlantic City’s Steel Pier is to welcome two vibrant attractions courtesy of ride manufacturer Premier Rides.

The two rides will be constructed on the boardwalk promenade of Steel Pier, representing a marvel of modern-day engineering.

The first ride built will be a spinning coaster. And fans of Steel Pier will take that as a nod to the past and remember the amusement parks’ original spinning coaster, built in 1996.

The new spinning Wild Mouse coaster is expected to be ready for the 2024 season.

The second coaster unveiled is known as the Skyrocket II. The coaster will top out at 150ft (45.72 metres) and cover 863ft (263 metres). Skyrocket II will have one inversion shoot riders along to a top speed of 62mph (99.7km/h) per hour.

The coaster will feature cutting-edge technology with digital signage draped on its structure. LED technology will be present with the ride colourfully illuminated for nighttime delight.

The Skyrocket II is due to debut a year after the Wild Mouse in 2025.

Steel Pier has a challenging build ahead taking into account the conditions for building two high-level attractions on top of Steel Pier with varying weather conditions throughout the year.

Premier Rides stated at IAAPA Expo Orlando their experience in roller coaster construction means that they have ‘every confidence the rides will be a success and push the boundaries of a modern-day roller coaster experience.’
