Battersea Power Station opened this month after a restoration project spanning eight years.

The famous Power Station first opened in 1929, with its first power generated in 1933.

It gave energy to landmarks such as Buckingham Palace during its heyday.

But the power station has not been in use since 1983. However, thanks to the near decade transformation process, Battersea Power Station has relaunch – becoming a cutting edge and glitzy retail and leisure attraction.

Visitors can, for the very first glimpse, discover the building and enjoy its new shops, F&B and leisure venues.

A free celebration entitled the Festival of Power gave visitors the first chance to see the new retail area with accompanied live performances, family activities and interactive exhibits.

Other experiences include an immersive trail charting the history of the power station and a restored Turbine Hall’s.

The restoration has attracted interest from top level retail chains, including Nike, Mulberry and Ralph Lauren, and will come onsite in the coming months.

Bars, restaurants, cafes have also opened spaces. Meanwhile London based F&B company Inception Group have confirmed a new bar in Control Room B, which was one of the original control rooms found in the power station.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London said: “As a lifelong South Londoner, I am particularly delighted to see the iconic Battersea Power Station opening its doors for the first time in forty years as a new addition to London’s thriving shopping and entertainment landscape.

“This redevelopment of a 20th Century London landmark has already helped to deliver new investment, vital transport links and jobs for local people. Battersea Power Station will now breathe new life into this part of London – attracting more investment and boosting our economy as we build a better London for everyone.”
