Listen to this article

Alton Towers Resort have this month closed one of its mainstay attractions in Duel.

Duel first opened as The Haunted House in 1992 and was the largest ghost train in Europe.

In 2003, Duel was given a makeover and the ride enhanced technology of laser guns, a new soundtrack and a zombie theme.

Mystery surrounds the attraction and Alton Towers have only added to the intrigue with a puzzling statement stating “strange goings-on inside the house” are the reasons for its closure.

The Alton Towers website description of Duel confirms: “Property repossessed. Strictly no unwanted visitors. Due to unnatural displays in the area.”

When asked for comment, Alton Towers Resort said: “We can confirm that Duel has come to an end and closed with immediate effect due to strange goings-on inside the house! We will be revealing more exciting details soon… of course, this is providing the unnatural activity isn’t going to spook us or our plans too much.”
