Efteling to install 12,000 solar panels in climate positive bid

Listen to this article

Efteling aims to be climate neutrality by 2030 and climate positive by 2032.

Another step to this process is the installation of a further 12,000 solar panels to the park.

Construction is set to commence in May and is expected to be in operation by September of this year.

The solar area will cover 29,200 m² big, equivalent to six football fields.

Efteling will be able to generate almost 35% of its electricity each year.

The solar array will be constructed in a nearby meadow, including the addition of embankments and hedgerows, which will be decorated with trees and plants to keep the panels out of sight.

To respect the area, the soil that has been removed from the construction sites of Efteling Grand Hotel and the new Huyverwoud-themed area will be used to plant these trees.

Efteling installed its first 12,000 solar panels in October 2022 on the carports in the car park and the roof of Symbolica park ride, meaning a total of 24,000 panels will be located at the park.
