Minicoders has become the first platform to offer video gaming experiences in the metaverse through educational content.
The platform is intended for children to have fun while also acquiring knowledge of the basics of computer programming.
Minicoders.com is a game-based educational platform that includes apps for children with video tutorials, virtual assistants and games where children can learn the fundamentals of programming.
The company was founded by Rubén Aparicio and Carlos Moreno at the end of 2021 as a venture builder.
This play-to-learn model aims to occupy children’s free time during holiday periods such as the recent Christmas – turning “unproductive” hours into quality learning time.
Minicoders encourages children between the ages of 6 and 12 to learn computer programming, converting screen time into productive and entertaining hours at the same time.
According to the company’s data, school children use a device with a screen and Internet connection for around 3 hours a day in their free time. As a result, 68% of parents are concerned about the number of non-productive hours their children spend using these devices.
Minicoders offers Minicoders Kids, an app with educational content such as videos and virtual assistants to guide children in their learning journey.
It also offers video game experiences where children can play, learn, and put new and acquired knowledge into practice.
The first video gaming experience of Minicoders is Magic School, a fictional world developed in the Roblox metaverse where children step into the shoes of a magic apprentice to explore, play and learn alone or with their friends.
Players need to unlock magical powers and features by solving challenges in the form of computer programming blocks, whereby they acquire the fundamentals of this subject. Parents can follow their children’s progress which is made possible by the parental control and security offered by both Minicoders and Roblox.
Magic School registered more than 50,000 unique users in the first months since its launch and, as of today, close to 100,000 children have been learning the basics of computer programming and playing with their magical powers in the first Minicoders gaming experience.
Minicoders’ video games and educational content are available to parents and children by subscribing to the platform.
The company will release new educational video games on a regular basis, each of which will focus on teaching different aspects of programming.
