Listen to this article

A ‘first-of-its-kind’ new water slide known as Tonga Twist has opened in Aquatica San Antonio, Texas, in time for the spring season.

The water slide features AquaTucent tubes which generate special effect lighting patterns, giving riders a thrilling light show as they plummet down a slide of over 50 feet in height. As they race down the slides, riders navigate twists and turns before splashing into a pool.

The Tonga Twist is the first water ride in Texas to have two body slides, each featuring its own twists and turns. As well as special effect lighting adding to the thrill of the attraction, Tonga Twist plays thumping music, as guests plummet down the slides before landing in a pool of water.

Tonga Twist opened to the public on March 7, 2020, the first day of Aquatica San Antonio’s spring break schedule.
