Walibi Holland reopens with newly rethemed Speed Zone

When Walibi Holland opens its doors again to the public on May 25, the park’s Speed Zone had been rethemed. The area continues the ‘festivalisation’ rebuilding strategy of Walibi Holland, with a festival-like atmosphere.

Leisure Expert Group designed the theme park experiences, as well as the festival features and stages in the new zone. MK Themed Attractions was responsible for designing a new scenic layer to the existing buildings and attractions in the area.

Speed Zone resembles an automotive world, featuring a brand-new “car-fronted” dining area, a new air-fix-car-kit-façade for the Goliath attraction, and a number of other larger than life automotive elements.

Peter Gros, project manager of Leisure Expert Group, commented: “We are pleased to have extended the collaboration with Walibi Holland. By bringing our festival experience into the project we were able to create the festival atmosphere that Walibi Holland was looking for and we are excited to show the result.”

Working with Walibi Holland’s installation team, MK Themed Attractions created and installed a new landmark for Space Shot, a 57-metre-tall ride, which now features an impressive “shooting” into the sky element.

Rene Hansen, managing director of MK Themed Attractions, said: We have yet again produced and installed a fantastic project for Walibi Holland that we are truly proud of.”
