Despite the outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent postponement of construction work, the $300m waterpark and entertainment development at Baha Mar in the Bahamas is on track to be completed in 2021.

Baha Mar Bay has suspended construction, but the developers believe the site is still on schedule to be completed next year.

Graeme Davis, president of Baha Mar commented: “We have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend all operations, including construction on property.

“As health, safety and wellbeing of our associates and Baha Mar guests is of utmost importance, the construction work will resume once it is determined safe by the Ministry of Health to continue.

“The Baha Mar Bay development is scheduled to be completed in 2021,” Davis continued.

The building of the new waterpark will coincide with renovations to the Melia Nassua Beach Resort. Upgrades will be made to the Melia Hotel, as well as at the restaurants, meeting spaces, gymnasiums and public areas at the resort.

The site will also see the arrival of two children’s activity centres, which will include VR gaming, a theatre, arts and crafts and more.
