A fabled wooden attraction, Balder has reopened after significant track maintenance.

The process has taken 15 months to complete and has £3 million to upgrade.

Built by Intamin, Balder opened to the public at Liseberg, Sweden in 2003 in celebration of the park’s 80-year anniversary,

Kenneth Berndtsson, Technical Manager at Liseberg said: “If you build a wooden roller coaster, you also have to love maintenance.

“But with Balder it is worth both money and toil, because the attraction is one of Liseberg’s most popular – and known in the industry as one of the world’s best roller coasters. However, safety always comes first.”

Balder is an award-winning roller coaster and packs a punch, racing at speeds of 56mph (90km/h).

Liseberg have a busy period upcoming with welcoming the park celebrating its centenary in 2023 and parks new themed area of Luna Park next season.
