The 6 billion yuan development in Linping District is Hangzhou’s largest single cultural tourism investment, combining Song Dynasty heritage, science fiction and rainforest theming across three distinct zones.
Hangzhou Parallel World, a 6 billion yuan integrated leisure resort developed by Shanghai Fuyue Group, is set to open in two stages this summer. The hotel and water park are due to begin trial operations in June, with the main theme park following in September. The project is located in the Chaoshan area of Linping District’s Grand Canal Science and Technology City, with a total land area of approximately 387 mu. It comprises two principal components: Hangzhou Parallel World Resort and Parallel World Resort Hotel. The combined total floor area is approaching 300,000m².
The resort is divided into three themed zones – Prosperous Song Capital, Future World and Fantasy Rainforest — built around immersive experiences spanning Song Dynasty culture, science fiction and tropical nature. Each zone carries signature attractions. Future World will house Zhejiang’s first 23-metre diameter 8K full-transparency LED dome screen, alongside what is described as China’s first cabin-style immersive flying seat platform. The Prosperous Song Capital zone will stage a large-scale outdoor water and light show with capacity for nearly 6,000 spectators, drawing on the legend of the White Snake. Fantasy Rainforest will feature Hangzhou’s first dark ride covering 50 mu, and a tropical greenhouse dome modelled on a Singapore equivalent.
The water park includes an indoor 3D immersive wave pool, a magnetic launch water coaster and a Sky Eye aerial experience. The hotel carries more than 1,200 rooms, a 16,000m² international convention centre and a 4,000m² pillarless banquet hall – making it Hangzhou’s largest single hotel by room count.
Annual visitor capacity on completion is estimated at one million, according to the Grand Canal Science and Technology City authority. The phased summer opening – water park first, main park in September – targets the peak domestic tourism window directly.
