An interactive dark ride in full bloom at Six Flags Qiddiya City
Now open to the public and already earning strong guest reviews, The Enchanted Greenhouse has firmly established itself as one of the standout indoor attractions at Six Flags Qiddiya City. From its richly detailed queue line to its magical finale, the attraction delivers a polished, immersive experience that demonstrates how interactivity, storytelling and technology can work in harmony.
Developed by a high-calibre consortium of Jora Vision, ETF Ride Systems and Alterface, The Enchanted Greenhouse sits at the heart of the park’s Twilight Gardens zone, offering a family-friendly counterpoint to Qiddiya’s headline-breaking thrill rides.
The experience begins well before guests board a vehicle. The queue and pre-show gently draw visitors into the story, transporting them into a long-abandoned greenhouse reclaimed by nature and mystery. Layers of scenic detail, lighting and subtle effects establish the atmosphere and build anticipation, a feature frequently highlighted in early guest feedback.
By the time riders step into the vehicles, they are already immersed in the world – primed to uncover its secrets.
Inside the greenhouse
The ride unfolds across approximately 1,300m² of highly themed interior space, with 12 autonomous, six-seater trackless vehicles navigating a 160-metre course. Despite its compact footprint, smart scene design and pacing deliver an experience of almost five minutes, packed with visual detail and moments of discovery.
Guests encounter hidden inhabitants, shifting environments and the enigmatic greenhouse warden, Farasha – the butterfly figure whose presence subtly guides the narrative. The attraction rewards observation and repeat rides, with many effects only revealing themselves when guests are working together and paying close attention.
What sets The Enchanted Greenhouse apart is its approach to interactivity. Rather than focusing on scores or competition, the attraction encourages collaboration. Guests influence colours, lighting and character behaviour, not by shooting, but by spraying the enchanted dew from the spray device, reinforcing the positive message of love and growth.
Each vehicle operates as a team, turning the ride into a shared journey rather than a game. Crucially, the experience remains engaging even for those who choose simply to watch.
Seamless collaboration
The attraction is the result of close collaboration from the earliest design stages. Jora Vision led the overall concept, spatial design and storytelling, ensuring the ride aligns with the wider vision of Six Flags Qiddiya City while standing confidently on its own.
The story is brought to life using animatronics, 14 multimedia projectors, layered scenic effects and a unique interactive feature not previously seen in dark rides of this type. Thousands of lifelike, otherworldly plants fill the space, concealing technology and reinforcing the illusion of a living, breathing environment.
Importantly, the narrative draws inspiration from regional culture and themes that resonate with Saudi audiences, while carrying a universal message of growth, harmony and renewal.
Trackless freedom
ETF Ride Systems’ autonomous Multi Mover vehicles give the ride its fluid movement and flexibility. Each six-seat vehicle features a custom-themed body with animated elements and offers unobstructed views for all riders. The absence of a fixed track allows for dynamic choreography and scene transitions, while a non-linear loading station helps maintain capacity and smooth guest flow.
Invisible technology, visible magic
Alterface’s contribution ensures that interactivity feels natural and invisible. Media, physical props, Pepper’s Ghost illusions and mapped projections are blended seamlessly into the scenery, while Alterface also coordinates media, music and lighting to maintain a cohesive tone throughout.
“The collaboration with ETF Ride Systems and Jora Vision is key,” says Stéphane Bataille, CEO of Alterface. “It allows us to hide the technology completely and immerse guests in a truly magical experience.”
A benchmark family attraction
As Six Flags Qiddiya City opens its gates to the public, The Enchanted Greenhouse is already proving that the park’s ambition extends well beyond superlatives and statistics. Thoughtfully designed, culturally resonant and warmly received by guests, the attraction stands as a benchmark for interactive dark rides – and a clear signal of the role immersive, story-led experiences will play in the park’s long-term success.
