The first pieces of track for the new $24m Banshee roller coaster at Kings Island theme park in Mason, Ohio, have been delivered.

Kings Island, a Cedar Fair amusement park near Cincinnati, said Banshee will open as the world's longest inverted roller coaster in April 2014.

The 4,124ft coaster will take up some of the land where the now-demolished Son of Beast looping wooden roller coaster once stood.

Bolliger and Mabillard of Switzerland is the company behind Banshee's design.
