The Danish theme park Djurs Sommerland has partnered with mobile apps for theme park specialists Attractions.io, to develop a new guest-facing mobile app.

The app went live on June 11, when Djurs Sommerland reopened. The app is designed to enhance the safety of guests and staff while improving the visitor experience.

The new mobile app will play a central role in supporting the social distancing measures implemented at the park. Location-based messaging and notifications will keep guests informed when visiting the park. Ticketing is also carried out via the app to reduce contact within the site and to keep queues to a minimum.

The app features interactive mapping, day planning, and wayfinding, to help improve the customer experience.

Michael Nielsen, director and owner of Djurs Sommerland, commented to the collaboration with Attractions.io: “Our current app wasn’t keeping pace with the expectations of our guests, but we recognised the value of having an app. We chose Attractions.io for their industry expertise and breadth and depth of the platform’s functionality.”

The app is to also feature mobile food ordering capabilities, allowing guests to look at menus, order food and pay for their order from their devices. Visitors will be notified when the food is ready to collect.
