Emerald Park has revealed a major investment into its park for the 2024 season – with the exciting addition of two new roller coaster.
The two rides are expected to open in time for the start of the 2024 season in spring and comes with a significant investment of £19m.
Charles Coyle, owner of Emerald Park, said: “We have been working on this for five years with a huge amount of thought, investment, design and research into this area and have taken every aspect of the theming and all audiences into consideration,” he said.
“We will be keeping the 3D model at Emerald Park for the summer but we are then going to take it out on the road at some central locations around the country so people can see exactly what expect at Emerald Park in 2024,” he added.
Coyle confirmed that the new name of the Celtic-themed area at the park will be “Tír na nÓg”.
“We are so excited to reveal the name and show everyone the scale of the new rollercoasters coming next year,” added Coyle.
Dutch manufacturing company Vekoma has been tasked with constructing and creating the two new roller coasters.
One of the rides will be a Suspended Thrill Coaster which spans 750-metres (2460ft), reaches 32-metres (105ft) in height and hits speeds of 90km/h (56mph).
The second coaster will be a Family Boomerang, targeting the family experience. This ride will cover 450-metres (1,476ft), top out at 25-metres (82ft), and travel along at 60km/h (37mph).
Both coasters are yet to be named, which will be revealed in due course.
A project five years in the making starting in 2018, construction of the themed area commenced back in August 2022.
Emerald Park confirmed that 85 construction jobs were created for the coasters project, while 40 further jobs will open at Emerald Park when the dual attractions open to the public next year.
