Europa-Park, the second biggest theme park in Europe, welcomed more than five million visitors in 2014 – the highest number of guest's in the park's history.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2015, Europa-Park is located in Rust, south-eastern Germany, between the Black Forest and Vosges.

According to the park's operators, the Mack family, who also build theme park attractions through their Mack Rides subsidiary, the attendance growth was due in no small part to the recent opening of a major new attraction, Arthur: In the Minimoys Kingdom.

Developed in co-operation with French film director Luc Besson, the new ride helped generate a double-digit rise in visitor numbers from France, the Mack family said.

The five-millionth visitor to Europa-Park, Ronny Richter, was able to enjoy a free day out with his family at Germany's biggest theme park. Richter and his family also received a free overnight accommodation voucher and other gifts.
