PortAventura has opened its newly expanded waterpark featuring King Khajuna, the highest free-fall slide in Europe.

The Spanish resort's Costa Caribe Aquatic Park opened for the summer season earlier this month with 14,000sq.m of additional space and new attractions, which forms the first stage in a €70m ($91m) expansion programme.

Forming part of PortAventura's plan to become the "best European family holiday destination", King Khajuna is a 12-storey, 31m-high slide. Adventurers who dare ride it must face a dizzying 55-degree descent at a speed of more than 6m per second.
