Flamingo Land in Kirby Misperton, North Yorkshire, UK, has installed an array of sophisticated turnstiles and handheld terminals from APT Skidata.

According to the operator, the installations help visitors enter the site more smoothly and enable the park management to tailor the entry system to their specific requirements.

APT installed six turnstiles, each comprising three core components: a Vario.Gate ticket reading device that uses a single reader to check barcode and 2D code tickets, as well as print@home tickets and RFID data carriers, and features a high-resolution QVGA display; a Servo Drive Unit that incorporates a light sensor to aid fast and smooth passage; and the three-armed Turnstile.Gate.

"APT Skidata turned out to be the ideal company to partner on this project," commented James Mulryan, IT manager and Electrical Technician at the park, which welcomes 1.8 million guests a year.
