A popular Wild West themed amusement park back in the nineties, Frontierland in Morecambe was a thriving visitor attraction thanks to its many entertaining attractions such as its roller coaster Texas Tornado and the panoramic tower the Polo Tower. Sadly, the park closed in November 1999 after 90 years of existence due to dwindling visitor numbers and lack of infrastructure.

However, 24 years, Lancaster City Council, who bought the land in 2021, are to confirm developments with the view to reinvigorate the site with a focus on leisure-based ideas.

The Council has invited interested parties to come forward and submit plans for the area since buying the land three years ago

Local residents were asked to give their views in a recent survey as the community comes together to readdress what once was a booming tourism destination.

A board including senior councillors has been formed to oversee the project, aligning developers’ expressions of interest with council and public intentions.
