‘Tis the season to be… spooky! Say Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

And their scary experience Journey to Hell perfectly reflects that.

Opening to the media on the very apt Friday 13th October, guests were given a first fright of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s annual Halloween event.

“The notorious Journey to Hell is back and scarier than ever.” Gulp!

Journey to Hell takes in a variety of frightful experiences for brave guests to ‘enjoy.’ The scare experience is open on selected dates between the 13th and 31st of October 2023.

In ‘Twisted Tunnels’, guests will follow the underground terrors of 1920s Blackpool Pleasure Beach and ‘among the dark corners and hidden alcoves, sinister figures lurk.’

On board ‘Possessed – The Legend of the Cursed River Caves,’ the classic journey through the River Caves has been given a dark macabre twist. ‘When the lights are extinguished, the hypnotic patter of a ritualistic drumbeat begins to echo throughout the many caverns of the River Caves’.

‘Carnevil’ promises to be ‘the realm where life and death dance in macabre harmony. The Day of the Dead Carnevil Scare Zone is a thrilling fusion of tradition and terror that honours the spirits of the departed.

Impossible Freak House is set to ‘eerie circus music’ setting the tone for what’s to come. The Pleasure Beach add that “Throughout the maze, you’ll encounter frightening, menacing clown faces and creepy circus performers that create a sinister carnival atmosphere. These elements contribute to a sense of foreboding.”

Another classic ride is the world’s first Ghost Train and naturally for Halloween the ride has been given a Halloween enhancement called ‘The Ghost Train Vault of Shadows’

“Guests commonly report seeing ghostly apparitions such as a wailing bride or hearing footsteps from the floors above,” said the Pleasure Beach. “Staff often refuse to go in the ride alone, commenting that they feel as if they are being watched or that figures within the ride have come alive.” A journey onboard the Ghost Train takes on even more terror.

As part of the Halloween festivities, various rides have been given a Halloween makeover, such as enjoying riding Icon in the dark, called ‘Dark Icon, or the bumper cars of ‘CaroLoco Dodgems.’

Still going strong is the interactive horror show ‘Pasaje Del Terror’ and this year celebrates 25 years of ‘taking willing victims beyond the limits of fear.’ To acknowledge the landmark year, the Pleasure Beach has added new fright features to the UK’s longest running scare attraction.
