A new water and sewer deal Miami city commissioners has been unveiled as part of the expansion of Jungle Island.

Jungle Island, or Parrot Jungle as it was known, was a zoological park rebranded as an eco-adventure park on Watson Island.

City Manager Art Noriega outlined the plans: “Miami City will negotiate and execute an Addendum to the Agreement for Water and Sanitary Sewer Facilities, by and between Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department and the city for the provision of water and sewer services to a city-owned property leased to ESJ JI Leasehold, LLC.”

The park reopened following necessary maintenance after the park was hit by Hurricane Irma. Jungle Island features new elevated nature treks and zip lines.

A major planned expansion will lead to construction of a hotel and a restaurant.
