Blackpool’s Pleasure Beach Resort has been acknowledged with a duo of awards from ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts).

The historic rollercoasters of Big Dipper and Grand National rides have been awarded the Rollercoaster Landmark Plaques.

It is a significant feat for the Pleasure Beach Resort as just 48 coasters in the world have scooped the Rollercoaster Landmark plaques.

The Pleasure Beach Resort is only the second park in Europe to be awarded the plaques by ACE.

A group of ACE enthusiasts travelled to the park to present the plaques to Pleasure Beach board directors, James Cox and Andy Hygate.

The membership of ACE has been established since 1978.  The group is the biggest and oldest organisation for rollercoaster enthusiasts of its kind, with more than 7,000 members across the world.

Upon receive the awards, Amanda Thompson OBE, CEO of Pleasure Beach Resort, said: “It’s an honour to receive the ACE Rollercoaster Landmark Plaques for both Big Dipper and Grand National. These rides hold a special place in the hearts of our guests and we’re proud that the importance of their heritage has been recognised.

“The blend of our modern, industry-leading rides like ICON and Valhalla, with these older, one-of-a-kind rides is an integral part of Pleasure Beach Resort’s identity and something that we believe truly sets us apart.”
