China’s Cultural Tourism Investment Surge: 32 Major Projects Signed in December 2025

Listen to this article

China’s cultural tourism sector closed 2025 with impressive momentum. December saw 32 significant project signings spanning theme parks, wellness resorts, and immersive entertainment venues.

The portfolio reveals a strategic pivot in operator priorities. Developers are moving beyond signature ride dependency toward culturally rooted storytelling, advanced technology integration, and atmospheric theming.

This shift targets multi-generational appeal rather than thrill-seeker demographics alone. The roster includes established operators like iQIYI launching its Hangzhou Park and Singapore’s Ascott entering the Dapeng Peninsula market. Domestic brands also feature prominently, with AG Esports developing an ecological complex and Xuezhu rolling out its “Borderless Sports Hub” concept.

These December 2025 signings reflect sustained investor confidence in China’s experiential leisure market. Project types range from full-scale resort developments to targeted urban renewals. Geographic spread extends from first-tier coastal cities to emerging inland tourism destinations. The pipeline reinforces China’s position as a core global market for attractions investment.

December 2025’s project signings demonstrate the Chinese cultural tourism market’s maturation and diversification. International hotel brands, domestic entertainment operators, and regional wellness developers are all committing capital.

Several projects target niche segments: esports complexes, ethnic cultural villages, and hot spring health resorts. This variety suggests operators are moving beyond generic theme park models toward specialized offerings. Geographic distribution also broadens the market. While coastal gateway cities attract premium hotel brands, inland counties secure agricultural tourism and wellness projects tailored to local resources.

The 32 December signings add to an already robust development pipeline. They signal that China’s attractions sector continues its shift from rapid expansion to strategic, experience-led growth.
