“The gold mine is open again!” Confirmation from Efteling that its dive coaster, Baron 1898, has been given an autumn makeover.

Efteling confirmed that in September and October, the dive coaster Baron 1898 was “temporarily closed for extensive maintenance” with “painting both inside and out, several mechanical components – such as the brakes and motors – were overhauled.” Stucco was applied, new textures were added, tiles were replaced, and lighting was renewed.

New free-fall ride Hooghmoed
Efteling will open a new family-friendly free-fall ride in summer 2026: Hooghmoed. During the maintenance on Baron 1898, construction work also began on this new attraction. The park stated that “Groundwork has been completed, underground infrastructure has been installed, and even the foundation has been started.”
Meanwhile, Efteling stated that there has been further upgrades to its park. There is now a revamped souvenir shop, and food locations all reopened last week.
