The forest-set water park in Lin’an District becomes the first premium water attraction in the Tianmu Mountain area, targeting year-round operation from its opening day.

Hangzhou Tianmu Future Valley Water World will open on 18 June 2026 in Lin’an District, Hangzhou. The opening date was formally confirmed at the 2026 National Water Park Efficiency Symposium, held at the site on 21 May, attended by government officials, industry experts and operators.

The park covers approximately 100,000m² and sits within the Tianmu Mountain World Biosphere Reserve, positioning itself as a forest-embedded water destination — a setting that gives it a natural differentiation from the urban waterpark format prevalent across the Yangtze River Delta. The wider Tianmu Future Valley development carries a total investment of 4.59 billion yuan and is planned as an integrated resort combining conference facilities, resort hotels, a natural history museum and the water park.

The park’s defining landmark is a 131.4-metre observation wheel — the highest in the Yangtze River Delta region. The height is a deliberate numerical choice: 131.4 sounds like ‘yi sheng yi shi’, meaning ‘a lifetime together’ in Mandarin. The wheel carries 48 oval high-end gondolas, each accommodating 12 guests, giving a single rotation capacity of nearly 600 visitors.

Unlike conventional water parks that operate only in summer, Tianmu Future Valley Water World has adopted what it describes as the first all-season amphibious operating model in the Yangtze River Delta. Certain attractions including a wave ride, drift experience and a year-round indoor zone will operate in all seasons, with the full outdoor wave pool and children’s areas activating for summer.

Early-bird tickets went on pre-sale from 20 May, with online sales exceeding 5 million yuan by the time of the opening announcement. Phase two of the wider Tianmu Future Valley complex is planned to include an ice and snow kingdom, a wildlife-themed zone, an ecological exploration park and an unpowered adventure play area.
