IAAPA Expo Middle East Postponed as Association Prioritises Safety and Stability

IAAPA has confirmed the postponement of IAAPA Expo Middle East, originally planned as the inaugural edition of the event in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The announcement came on 10 March 2026, following a formal decision by the IAAPA Board of Directors. Safety concerns linked to the ongoing situation in the region drove the decision.

The announcement will come as a significant disappointment to many. This was set to be the first-ever IAAPA Expo Middle East – a milestone event for a region that has been one of the most active theme park and attractions development markets in the world. Exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and delegates had already committed time and resources to the event. IAAPA acknowledges that weight directly.

IAAPA President and CEO Jakob Wahl addressed the decision without softening it. “This was not an easy decision,” he said. “We recognise the time, investment, and commitment of our members and partners dedicated to what would have been the inaugural IAAPA Expo Middle East.” The association confirmed it will contact all registered parties directly regarding next steps, refunds, and options.

The decision followed a structured consultation process. IAAPA engaged the EMEA Regional Advisory Board, the EMEA Manufacturers & Suppliers Committee, the MENALAC Board of Directors, exhibitors, speakers, and local members before reaching a final position. That breadth of stakeholder involvement reflects how seriously the association weighed the call. The safety and wellbeing of the global IAAPA community remained the overriding factor.

The Middle East attractions sector continues to grow at pace. Major projects across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the wider Gulf remain firmly in development. IAAPA’s commitment to the region has not changed – the association confirmed that IAAPA Expo Middle East will return, rescheduled for 12–15 April 2027.
