It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernd Kaufmann, CEO and owner of Simtec, on July 7th, 2024. With his passing, Simtec has lost a remarkable individual and visionary leader.
In recent years, Bernd’s primary goal was to make Simtec independent of his direct involvement, allowing him to devote more time to traveling with his family in their motorhome and preparing for retirement. This goal had been a priority since the spring of 2022, enabled by the robust company structure he had developed over the past decade.
Since the beginning of this year, Bernd had been leading the company while sharing management responsibilities with Andreas Stickel, Philipp Hellwig, Dr. Robert Ekelhof, and his son, Philipp Kaufmann. As a result of this unfortunate development, the next steps that were planned in collaboration with Bernd must now be implemented on an expedited basis.
Andreas Stickel, who has been representing Simtec to the customers for many years, will take over the role of Managing Director. Bernd was always an optimist and has prepared the company well for the future. In this spirit, the Simtec team will continue Bernd’s life’s work.
