Walt Disney World Resort president Jeff Vahle will retire this summer after 36 years with The Walt Disney Company.
Jeff Vahle retirement plans have been confirmed, with the Walt Disney World Resort president set to leave The Walt Disney Company this summer. Vahle announced the decision on 11 May 2026 and will remain in post through late July, according to reports citing his LinkedIn statement.
The timing gives Disney a leadership transition at its largest resort operation in the US. Walt Disney World Resort in Florida includes four theme parks, more than 25 resort hotels, two water parks, Disney Springs, a sports complex and extensive support facilities.
Vahle has led Walt Disney World Resort since May 2020. His tenure began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the resort faced temporary closure, phased reopening and major operational pressure.
The Jeff Vahle retirement announcement also comes during a period of continued capital activity at Walt Disney World. In his statement, Vahle pointed to upcoming work including Cool KIDS’ Summer, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets and an updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Vahle said: ‘Today, I shared with our team that after 36 years with Disney, I’ll be retiring this summer.’ He added: ‘I started my career as an engineer at Magic Kingdom and I’m wrapping it up with the best job ever, leading Walt Disney World into a period of remarkable growth in partnership with our incredible Cast Members and community.’
His Disney career began in 1990 as an engineer. Disney Parks Blog noted earlier this year that he later helped open Disney’s Animal Kingdom, led major operational teams and supported the development and opening of Shanghai Disney Resort.
Before becoming president of Walt Disney World Resort, Vahle held senior roles across Disney’s parks and experience businesses. Those included leadership of Disney Signature Experiences and facilities and operations services for Disney theme parks worldwide.
Several major attraction openings took place during his time leading the Florida resort. These included Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, TRON Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
