The historic coaster at Knott’s Berry Farm Xcelerator is primed for a return.
The ride has been out of action for two years but will soon be back on track with Knott’s Berry Farm testing a new hydraulic launch system. Intamin has been tasked with installing these new upgrades for Xcelerator.
The ride has history, lots of history, having been built originally in 1957.
It is expected that evaluation tests on Xcelerator will take place from the middle of August with Knott’s planning to reopen Xcelerator later this summer.
“Safety is always the top priority at Knott’s Berry Farm and all Cedar Fair parks,” Knott’s officials said. “When the ride reopens to guests, it will have been thoroughly tested and recommissioned.”
