The historic Georgia amusement park will repurpose a Zierer family coaster to expand its lakeside attraction inventory.
Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park will debut a new family-friendly roller coaster, Lookout Safari, for its 2026 operational season. Located in Rossville, Georgia, the historic park confirmed the mechanical installation this week. The ride will sit directly along the lakefront, positioned across from the Cannonball wooden coaster. This addition marks a deliberate effort by the venue to bridge the gap between its gentle children’s rides and its larger thrill installations.
The development gives a second life to a proven mechanical asset. Manufactured by German firm Zierer, the steel coaster previously operated as Kōmbo at the Indianapolis Zoo for 25 years. Park technicians dismantled the ride to make way for new animal exhibits in Indiana before transporting it to Georgia. Relocating existing steel coasters allows regional parks to expand their ride portfolios while bypassing the heavy capital expenditure of a brand-new build.
Lookout Safari features a single, 13-car train capable of holding up to 26 passengers per cycle. Riders board jeep-themed vehicles equipped with seats designed to resemble fuel cans. A friction-wheel drive lift hill carries the train to a height of 20 feet. From there, the vehicle navigates a 656-foot layout of gentle drops and turns over two complete laps. Reaching a top speed of 21 mph, the ride delivers smooth forces accessible to young children and adults alike.
Integrating reliable, high-capacity machinery is a textbook strategy for traditional regional parks. The long train configuration on this specific Zierer model yields an impressive hourly throughput for a family-level attraction.
