A new star attraction is shining with Merli officially opening at Tibidabo Amusement Park.
Merlí is a free fall drop tower and a group of 24 TibiClub members, the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and other municipal representatives were the first to sample the experience of climbing above 500-meters above sea level towards a thrilling drop with breath taking views overlooking Barcelona.
Merli’s design is inspired by a magic wand, which is 52-meters tall. During the ascent, the ride stops and turns to show visitors a 360º view of Barcelona before ending the ride and starting the free fall.
Merlí is Tibidabo’s main novelty for the 2024 season, in which it expects to exceed 700,000 visitors and 22,500 member families of the Tibiclub.
The inauguration of Merlí marks the main milestone of Tibidabo in this 2024. Until mid-July, close to 300,000 people have come to the amusement park: in line with those of 2023.
In addition to the new free fall attraction, Tibidabo presents many other novelties aimed at all audiences. The amusement park kicked off the 2024 season with the opening of Espai 666, a terrifying new experience where visitors have the opportunity to meet and take photos with Hotel 666’s best-known characters.
Among the educational proposals for the little ones is the new CreaTibi by Lego Education space, a project in collaboration with Abacus Education that promotes scientific vocations among the little ones.
The park also introduces novelties for the summer campaign. In addition to the premiere of new shows, such as the ‘Puppets with Samfaina’ at the Marionetarium or the projection of new 4D films at the Dididat cinema, during the month of August the Laser Show will return. A nocturnal experience that mixes lights, colours and music with Barcelona in the background and with which Tibidabo closes its summer nights.
Tibidabo has also made progress in improving the visitor experience with the opening of two new restaurant centres located in the Panoramic Area, under the Airplane, and next to Espai 666.
In addition to innovating in its leisure offer, Tibidabo is advancing in its ambition to be more than an amusement park, with projects that reinforce its commitment to sustainability, solidarity and education.
In terms of the environment, the Cuca de Llum has become an international benchmark for sustainable collective mobility and the main means of transport to reach the summit of Tibidabo, with more than 900,000 trips per year.
In addition, the park has had the Biosphere Certificate since 2023, which recognizes its commitment to the promotion of a responsible and sustainable tourist model, which takes care of the environment and the social return of its activity.
Among the solidarity projects, Tibidabo’s alliance with Unicef stands out to carry out actions in favour of children’s rights around the world and the celebration of twenty solidarity days each year in collaboration with entities such as Let’s learn Autism. , Educo or Fanoc, among others.
