Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced a £50 million Minecraft-themed land at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London, set to open in 2027.
Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced Minecraft World, the first fully immersive Minecraft theme park land. The project, valued at £50 million, will open at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London in 2027. Announced on 21 March 2026, it represents the first time the best-selling video game franchise has been translated into a major theme park land. For the attractions industry, the scale and IP profile of the project make it one of the most significant UK theme park announcements in recent years.
Minecraft World will occupy a dedicated land within Chessington World of Adventures. Planned attractions include a world-first Minecraft-themed coaster, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining. The land draws from the game’s most recognised biomes, mobs and items. Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments have also confirmed collaboration with a selection of Minecraft content creators to support the development’s authenticity.

Chessington World of Adventures sits 35 minutes by direct train from London Waterloo. That access point strengthens the land’s commercial case for both domestic and international visitors. Minecraft World adds a major new draw to an established resort. The announcement sets a clear marker for licensed IP investment in the UK theme park sector.
