Roshn, the Saudi Arabia property developer, has announced plans to build a new stadium in Riyadh.

The planned facility will have a capacity of 45,000 supporters and located in the southwest of Riyadh.

Khalid Johar, acting CEO of Roshn, said: “Roshn Stadium embodies the firm’s strategic transformation as a multi-asset class developer. The project will improve the quality of life and support economic growth in line with Saudi Vision 2030 while providing a venue in Riyadh and enhancing the kingdom’s attractiveness to host international events and sporting competitions.”

The news followed the announcement of another project to construct a new stadium to the north of Riyadh. Called King Salman Stadium, it will become the Saudi national football team’s main base and will have a vast seating capacity of 92,000 spectators. The construction of the stadium is expected to be completed by 2029.

The stadium announcements come as Saudi Arabia officially submitted its bid to host the Fifa World Cup 2034.
