New wave pool in Japan opening 2026

The Ise Shima Cultural Development Company has announced plans to build a new wave pool in Ago-cho, Shima City in the Mie Prefecture of Japan. 

The aquatic venue will be known s Perfect Swell Shima and is primed to welcome its first guests in the summer of 2026.

With an investment an estimated 4 billion yen (£21m) the wave pool will cover 220-metres long (720ft) by 100-meters wide (328ft).

The site is located in Shijima, Ago-cho, Shima City, near popular surf spots at Kokufu-no-hama and Ichigo-hama. It will also house a new in-house restaurant as part of its facilities.
