Belgian interactive technology specialist Alterface and China’s Fantawild formalise a partnership to co-develop next-generation interactive attractions for the global market.
Belgian interactive technology firm Alterface and Chinese themed entertainment developer Fantawild have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop next-generation interactive attractions. The agreement was formalised at IAAPA Expo Asia on 11 June 2026.
The deal pairs Fantawild’s vertically integrated development model with Alterface’s two-and-a-half decades of interactive ride expertise. Fantawild handles the full themed tourism value chain in-house – from creative planning and design through to construction and operations – and has delivered large-scale turnkey projects across China and internationally. Alterface brings more than 150 interactive dark rides, walkthroughs and theatres installed worldwide.
Ms Huo Caixia, vice president of Fantawild, confirmed the strategic rationale. “We see strong potential in this collaboration with Alterface,” she said. “Their interactive technologies complement our development capabilities, enabling us to create the next-generation interactive experiences.”
A core element of the collaboration centres on integration efficiency. Alterface’s systems are designed to embed into existing attraction ecosystems without requiring operators to rebuild established workflows. Real-time responsiveness – with the technology remaining invisible within the guest experience – is central to Alterface’s approach. The same system architecture already powers attractions ranging from a Kings Island dark ride in the United States to immersive walk-through venues in Dallas.
Stéphane Battaille, chief executive of Alterface Projects SA, said Fantawild’s scale made it a natural fit. “Fantawild is a key partner in terms of scale, vision and integration and operation capabilities,” he said. “We are pleased to bring our technology to such a leading player in the Chinese themed entertainment market.”
The timing reflects Alterface’s sustained push into Asia. The company appointed a dedicated business development manager for Greater China last year, with an explicit focus on theme parks, FECs and location-based entertainment venues. This partnership with Fantawild – one of China’s largest integrated park operators – marks a significant step in that strategy.
Both parties say the collaboration will target new-build attractions as well as enhancements to Fantawild’s existing portfolio. No specific projects or opening dates have been disclosed.
