The $400m Missouri resort has started installing The Plunge, a 100ft tower ride planned as one of 12 amusement attractions.
Oasis Lake of the Ozarks has started installing its first amusement ride, marking a visible construction milestone for the $400m resort and entertainment district in Missouri. Crews began work on The Plunge on 9 May 2026, with the first phase of the destination scheduled to open in spring 2027.
The Plunge will stand 100ft tall and lift guests above the lakeside site before a controlled drop back to the landing area. The tower ride will seat 12 riders in a rotating carriage, giving each passenger views across Lake of the Ozarks before the descent.
Todd Schneider, operating partner, said: ‘The Plunge’s ride carriage seats 12 and slowly rotates, giving every rider a breathtaking lake view before the unexpected drop.’ He added: ‘The ride is also designed with various descent programs, allowing it to deliver thrills while remaining family friendly.’
The Plunge will be one of 12 amusement rides planned for the resort. Further ride installations will continue through the summer, according to the project team. When complete, the wider development will operate as a year-round entertainment destination. Plans include a theme park, Missouri’s largest indoor water park, several restaurants, a nearly 200ft observation wheel and a 401-room Marriott hotel.
The first phase will include the amusement park, parking garage and boat slips. The indoor water park and Marriott property will follow after that opening stage.
Construction and project material also refer to Oasis at Lakeport. Brinkmann Constructors lists the first phase as a 623,000sq ft development, with a nine-acre amusement park, 800-space parking garage and 200 public boat slips.
