The Bottrop park will open Journey to the Forbidden Chamber in mid-May, adding a Paramount Pictures studio experience for its 30th anniversary season.
Movie Park Germany Journey to the Forbidden Chamber will open in mid-May at the park in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, Germany. The new Paramount Pictures attraction forms part of the park’s 30th anniversary season and replaces The Lost Temple.
The news matters now because Movie Park Germany is using a major studio brand to sharpen its ‘Hollywood in Germany’ positioning. The project also shows how regional parks can refresh existing ride infrastructure with new IP, media and set-based storytelling.
Journey to the Forbidden Chamber is billed as a realistic film studio experience. Guests enter the world of a fictional Paramount Pictures production and move through a series of sets, props and show elements.
The attraction places visitors in the role of extras on a new adventure film. Its story begins with an open casting call in Studio 16. The plot then leads into a forbidden chamber sequence with live-action staging and media-led effects.
Movie Park Germany says the experience includes a two-and-a-half-minute film produced specially by Paramount Pictures. The film works with a moving stage to create the main multimedia sequence.
The project occupies a prominent site near the park entrance. A five-metre-high and five-metre-wide Paramount Pictures archway will act as a new visual marker for the area.
The attraction also includes a Paramount Showroom. This space will feature a screening area and original costumes from Paramount event films. For operators, that adds a museum-style layer to the ride exit and supports longer dwell time.
P&P Projects is responsible for the theming and design of the immersive tunnel attraction. Movie Park Germany said the film for the attraction was produced at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles in November 2025.
Thorsten Backhaus, managing director of Movie Park Germany, said: ‘In addition to our existing licensed attractions based on well-known movies and series, we are now very proud to integrate one of the world’s most famous studios into the park.’
He added: ‘Paramount Pictures Studios is not only synonymous with spectacular cinematography and numerous event film productions – They are a flagship of Hollywood itself, which ties in perfectly with Movie Park’s identity.’
Movie Park Germany Journey to the Forbidden Chamber also links back to the park’s 1996 origins. The operator has referenced Movie Magic, an early behind-the-scenes attraction, as part of that connection.
