Paultons Park has revealed the opening day of its upcoming £12million themed land ‘Valgard – Realm of the Vikings’.
Set to open on 16 May, 2026, Valgard will be a Viking-themed world featuring Paultons Park’s first inverting rollercoaster ‘Drakon’. On board, riders will enjoy two inversions and a beyond-vertical drop.
Drakon is a custom Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster with a vertical lift hill that plunges into its heart-pounding beyond vertical drop, with an inverting coaster track.
“In 2026, the Viking realm of Valgard will rise at Paultons Park. Face the wrath of Drakon, (Paultons’ most thrilling coaster yet and the first ever inverting coaster at the Park) as it intertwines with Raven – another legendary coaster reborn,” stated Paultons Park.
Alluding to the other coaster in Valgard, ‘Raven’ is the park’s Gerstlauer Bobsled ride fully reimagined to blend into its new surroundings.
Finally, complementing the new attractions is ‘Vild Swing,’ which swings 12-metres high and is a first of its kind in the UK.
“Swing into battle on the UK’s first epic ‘Vild Swing’ ride, explore a Viking-themed playground, and feast like true warriors in a brand-new Nordic themed dining hall,” explained Paultons.
James Mancey, deputy managing director at Paultons Park, said: “We’ve opened two brand-new rides in the last two years and with the build of Valgard firmly underway, we’re excited to open a further three, bigger-and-better-than-ever-before rides, between now and summer 2027.
In addition to these attractions, Paultons Park submitted a planning application back in March 2025 to construct a holiday village, which will see the creation of a resort offering by installing 85-95 units of lodge-style accommodation, adjacent to Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, with its own parking and entrance to the park.
