Dayton’s Carillon Historical Park has added a new train to its venue delivered by Severn Lamb.
“We have a number of new things going into the spring and summer season,” said Brady Kress, president and CEO of Dayton History.
The Carillon Park Railroad project is a full-size replica of the locomotive Cincinnati, which was the first passenger train to travel to Cincinnati with the Hamilton & Dayton Railroad beginning in 1851.
The train will travel along a one-mile track within the park and can carry up to 120 passengers.
Guests on board will enjoy a sedately 12-minute ride in its open-air coaches.
The tracks also cross a bridge that is special to Dayton, Kress said.
“It’s a con-span bridge structure which was actually invented in Dayton and (con-span bridges) have installations all over the world.”
“It’s super cool that we’re actually able to go across a Dayton invention.”
Workers from Severn Lamb arrived in Dayton to perform necessary load testing and training people in readiness for the train’s grand opening.
An investment of $10 million has been made towards the new attraction and is set to open to the public on 2 May.
