Six Flags Great Adventure ready to roll with 15th roller coaster this summer

Six Flags Great Adventure are readying their new attraction this summer: The park’s fifteenth rollercoaster.

To coincide with Six Flags Great Adventure 50th anniversary, the park will unleash “The Flash: Vertical Velocity.” Made by Vekoma, this super boomerang style model is set to propel riders travelling along two U-shaped, steel tracks at speeds up to 70mph in less than four seconds from its gate launch.

Riders will twist up a 185-foot corkscrew before heading backward toward the station on the way to a second 185-foot vertical tower. It will complete this circuit 2.5 times, going up the twisted side three times and the straight side twice.

The ride will travel along 2,700ft of track in just 45 seconds.

The Flash: Vertical Velocity will be a coaster unique to North America and only the second in the world found in China.

Six Flags Great Adventure explain that riders will ‘race to the sky with the Fastest Man Alive on The Flash Vertical Velocity.’
