The Massachusetts theme park will open its Intamin family launch coaster in April after a year-long pause in the commissioning process.
Six Flags New England has set an opening date for its delayed coaster, Quantum Accelerator. Located in Agawam, Massachusetts, the family-friendly attraction will officially open to the public on 17 April 2026. Season passholders will gain exclusive early access during the park’s opening weekend on 11 and 12 April. The debut follows a year-long postponement after the venue paused operations last summer to ensure operational reliability.
The 59-foot-tall ride replaces the former Goliath coaster in the Crackaxle Canyon section of the park. Manufactured by Liechtenstein-based Intamin, the installation is the first dual-launch straddle coaster in the region. Riders straddle motorbike-style seats and grip handlebars rather than sitting in traditional upright rows. This ergonomic setup allows guests to lean forward into banking turns and 11 distinct airtime moments.
Bill Falzone, park manager at Six Flags New England, noted that the addition brings a new level of excitement to the region. ‘We are proud to add this coaster to our attraction lineup as it represents our park’s commitment to delivering unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment and lifelong memories,’ Falzone stated.
The ride launches guests out of the station using a friction-wheel drive system to reach an initial speed of 30 mph. A second boost midway through the circuit accelerates the train to a top speed of 45 mph. Measuring 2,604 feet in length, the track weaves through mechanical and steampunk-themed scenery. The minimum rider height is 48 inches, making the two-minute circuit accessible to younger demographics.
