Zamperla’s Dragonix Air Race has opened at Parque Diversiones in San José, Costa Rica, giving the park a new headline thrill and extending Zamperla’s footprint in the Latin American market.

The Dragonix Air Race project brings Zamperla’s signature high‑intensity flying experience to Central America, combining dynamic ride performance with a custom narrative built around a powerful alpha dragon. For Parque Diversiones, Dragonix Air Race strengthens the park’s line‑up of extreme attractions aimed at teens and adults, while also showcasing how tailored theming can deepen local guest engagement.

The Dragonix Air Race installation followed a full end‑to‑end collaboration between Zamperla and Parque Diversiones, from initial planning and engineering through to on‑site assembly and commissioning. Zamperla’s team aligned safety, structural design and show elements in a single programme, working closely with the park’s technical and operations staff to integrate the ride into existing infrastructure and guest flows.

The result is a compact but visually dominant attraction that delivers tight turns, barrel‑roll style movements and sustained G‑forces, while maintaining the reliability standards expected from a high‑throughput regional park ride.

The exclusive Dragonix Air Race storyline was developed specifically for Parque Diversiones. Guests are cast as recruits flying alongside Dragonix as it awakens to reclaim the skies above the park, with scenic elements, colour palette and graphic treatment all reinforcing that central idea.

Zamperla’s creative team treated the queue, load platform and ride envelope as a continuous canvas, ensuring that the narrative reads clearly from first approach through to the final ride cycle. For industry professionals, Dragonix Air Race underlines how hardware such as Air Race can be localised through bespoke theming to deliver both operational impact and a strong sense of place.
