Building work on the Carnival Cruise Line’s new Mardi Gras excellence-class cruise ship is underway and progressing at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

Almost 800 ft. of suspended track has been installed on the ship that make up the tracks of BOLT, the first rollercoaster at sea. The coaster is located on the super decks of the ship and will provide guests with a breath-taking ride of drops and dips as they look out to sea, 187 ft. above the water.

Mardi Gras comprises of six unique themed zones and encompasses 21 decks. The focal point of the ship is Grand Central, a huge atrium with three deck-high windows that overlook the sea.

The ship is home to more than 2,600 staterooms, including 180 suites across 11 different categories. Interior designers have been putting the finishing touches to the ship’s unique accommodation.

Mardi Gras is due to enjoy its debut voyage in February 2021.
