As the key summer trading season begins, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions has provided an update of the key rides and attractions that look set to mark their debut across Europe.

"Amusement parks in Europe are investing more than €400m in 2011 in order to provide their visitors with new experiences," the association said. "In addition to family attractions, roller coasters, shows, and special events, some parks will also add new themed areas."

Highlights of the 2011 include a new indoor section at Plopsaland De Panne in Belgium; two new water slides at Farup Sommerland in Denmark; the Black Holes planetarium at Sarkanniemi Adventure Park in Finland; Enchanted Forest at Germany’s Europa-Park; two new 4D theatres at Isla Magica, Spain; and Nickelodeon Land at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, UK.
