As part of its 110th anniversary celebrations, the Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain) Cable Car presented a project on 26 May to create a zip line. Still in the approval phase, the new attraction is scheduled to open in November this year.

If approved, the attraction will open in November and will link Morro da Urca to Sugarloaf Mountain. When in full flight, the exhilarating attraction could reach speeds of up to 100 km/h (62mph).

The zip line will link Sugarloaf Mountain to Morro da Urca, with 755-metres of length (2477ft.) and four descent lines, reaching a speed of 100 km/h and an average descent time of 40 to 50 seconds.

“The idea of a zip line here is yet another reinforcement of our strategy and business vision of making Parque Bondinho Pão de Açúcar the best integrated platform for sustainable experiences in tourism, entertainment and media in South America”, says the Park’s CEO Sugarloaf cable car, Sandro Fernandes.
